India’s best ever Asian Games with 69 Medals

India return from Asian Games 2018 at Indonesia with a tally of 69 medals, This is India’s their best-ever performance at Asian Games whereas the number of gold medals are best since the first Asiad in 1951.

India return from Asian Games 2018 at Indonesia with a tally of 69 medals (Gold: 15, Silver: 24, Bronze: 30), the Athletics performances where best with Gold: 7; Silver: 10; Bronze: 2.  Shooting performed with their best performance with 2 gold, 4 silver, 3 bronze.

Archery remains one of the most under-achieving sports still for India with just two silvers. Thanks to P.V.Sindhu and Saina Nehwal India got a Gold and Silver in Badminton. Amit Panghal’s won gold medal finishing 1 Gold and 1 Bronze in Boxing.


In Men’s Hokey India beat Pakistan in the Bronze medal match but still being the best team in Asia and loosing Semi Final to Malaysia was a heartbreak. Wonmen’s team lost a final to Japan in very competitive match to get that Silver. Kabaddi was another surprise where first time India could not get a Gold in both Men or Women category. Women bags Silver as Men settle for Bronze. Rowing got   1 Gold and 2 Bronze.

Squash team  with internal problems seems to have cost them a gold, they got a silver and 4 bronze. The players were unhappy with coach Cyrus Poncha. They relied on each other for coaching advice and did not wait for the tournament to end to demand his replacement. Rohan Bopanna and Divij Sharan won double’s Gold and Ankita Raina won a bronze in Women tennis.

Bajrang Punia and Vinesh Phogat won Wrestling Golds and table tennis saw two bronze medals to finish of the tally.
