India Getting Ready for Farmer Relief Plan

With a tradition of being farmer’s country, Indian government is working on plan to provide direct benefits transfer for farmers. In this plan each farmer will register their crop and farm area with the nearest APMC market. If the prices fall below the floor limit the farmer would be entitled to the difference up to a 10%. The money will be paid directly into farmer’s bank accounts which are linked with Aadhaar card.

Niti Aayog member Ramesh Chand is working on this with Agricultural ministry. This scheme is similar to Rythu Bandhu plan implemented by Telangana government. Telengana has set aside Rs. 12,000 crore for the current fiscal year, government provides Rs. 4,000 per acre per farmer for purchase of seeds, pesticides, fertilizers and other work in farms.
